speedboat to Selingan Island. Check into chalet. Free at leisure to
explore island, swim and snorkel. After dinner, wait for signal from the
Park Ranger to proceed in small groups to look for Green Turtle(s) come
ashore to lay eggs on the beach, transplanting of eggs to hatchery and
release of baby turtles to the sea. Tourists are welcome to assist. This
island is a park conservation area since 1977 and turtles have been
nesting here almost every night throughout the year.

Day 6 [B L D] Selingan to Sukau
Transfer to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Trek ten minutes through the
rainforest on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the orang utans
at about 10.00am. Continue to Sandakan jetty for an estimated 2 hours boat
journey to Sukau Rainforest along North Borneo's longest river, the
Kinabatangan, with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in mangroves,
wetlands and rainforest habitats. River cruise in search of some of the 10
primate species including Proboscis monkeys as they settle down on
treetops along the banks of Kinabatangan River.

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills; river cruise up the
Kinabatangan river to view more birds and wildlife. Proceed to the
Kelenanap ox-bow lake for a short jungle walk (if weather permits).

Checkout from Sukau; Proceed about 27 km overland to Gomantong caves. Trek
20 minutes through the rainforest to the cave entrance. Your guide will
brief you on the cave faunas including bats, swiftlets and crabs among
others and their contribution to maintaining a balanced ecology and
significance to the local economy. When in season, witness the collecting
of birds' nests by the local people using bamboo ladders and poles.

others and their contribution to maintaining a balanced ecology and
significance to the local economy. When in season, witness the collecting
of birds' nests by the local people using bamboo ladders and poles.
Proceed 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu town for lunch. Drive about 83km
through selectively logged forest, cocoa and soft-wood plantations before
arriving at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge beside the Danum River on the edge
of about 438 sq. km of undisturbed lowland rainforest. The valley is home
to a wide range of North Borneo's lowland fauna, including the rare
Sumatra rhinoceros, elephants, cllouded leopards, and orang utans.
[sightings not guaranteed]. So far, some 275 species of birds have been
recorded in the area. Explore nature trail and nearby river. In the
evening, a slide show and if weather permits enjoy a night safari to view

Early morning walk before breakfast. Spot the birds. Spend the whole day
relaxing or exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an
escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to a waterfall and take a dip
in refreshing rock pools. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, jungle
walk through trails leading to canopy walkway to have a view of the forest
from its “roof level”.
