Danum River on the edge of
438 sq. km of undisturbed lowland rainforest.
The valley is home to a wide range of north Borneo's lowland fauna, including
the rare Sumatran Rhinoceros, Elephants, Clouded Leopards, and Orang Utans. So
far some 275 species of birds have been recorded in the area. personnel will
brief you on the facilities available at the Lodge.

At Danum Valley
Morning walk to the Canopy Walkway.
Guided
jungle activities: trek up to the Kadazandusun burial site, the Coffin Cliff,
then proceed trekking up to the View Point for a bird's eyeview of the area.
Descend to the all-natural "Jacuzzi Pool" in the midst of the rainforest for a
refreshing dip – so do remember to bring along your swimming gear! Trek back to the Lodge.

Day trip to Kinabalu Park [world heritage site]
with guide
Leisurely drive towards mount Kinabalu [a WORLD
HERITAGE SITE] Stop by at Nabalu, a small town located near the foot of Mount
Kinabalu to buy some local fruits & handicrafts. Upon arrival at Poring Hot
Spring, start with a bit of jungle trekking up a slope to the CANOPY WALKWAY for
a better appreciation of the rainforest. Catch sight of the small
mammals, reptiles and insects during the trek. After finishing the trek, take a
dip in the Japanese style bath tubs filled with running sulfured water rising
from the earth’s depth and soak in the self-mixed warm water believed to have
therapeutic effect. Before departing the Hot Spring for lunch, stop by at the
vegetable market in Kundasang. Lunch is served at a local restaurant.

Day 9
Depart to Turtle Island Selingan - Check
into chalet. Free at leisure to explore island, swim and snorkel. After dinner,
wait for signal from the Park Ranger before we proceed in small groups to watch
Green Turtle lay eggs on the beach, transplanting of eggs to hatchery and
release of baby turtles to the sea.You are
welcome to assist. This island is a park conservation area since 1977 and
turtles have been nesting here every night throughout the year.
Overnight on Selingan Island.
Day 10;
After breakfast, return to Sandakan by boat.
Proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Late afternoon take a two
hours river cruise using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate
species including Proboscis monkeys as they settle down on treetops along the
Kinabatangan River. Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner and
slide show conducted by naturalist guide.

Day 11;
Wake up to the calls of monkeys and hornbills.
Morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to view more birds and wildlife.
Proceed to the Kelenanap ox-bow lake for a short jungle walk
Experience the wilderness of Borneo. You have
the option to participate in our conservation project by planting trees at our
64 acres adopted land.
After breakfast, transfer by boat to Sukau
Village for a short tour including a tea break. In the afternoon, we proceed for
another river cruise for more wildlife. After dinner an optional night safari
cruise spotting nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds.

Day 1 : Arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport [kk] and transfer to
Rasa Ria hotel (a 5 star beach front resort hotel by the south china sea; miles
of sandy beach, vast landscaped grounds, pools, deck chairs pool side and under
coconut trees, golf course, pool side bar, international cuisine coffee house,
Indian and western restaurants on site) rest and relaxation after the long flight from Heathrow.

Day 2 : After breakfast, enjoy the rest of the day by the pools, deck chairs,
walk the beach and check out the in-house activities. [presently they have a few
orang utans in the forest sanctuary near the rasa ria]. (optional activities include

Day 7 After an early breakfast, transfer to kk airport for domestic flight
to Sandakan [about 1 hr]. Arrive Sandakan, transfer to jetty for 45 minutes boat
ride by speedboat to Selingan Island (40km). Check into chalet. Free at leisure
to explore island, swim and snorkel. After dinner, wait for signal from the Park
Ranger before we proceed in small groups to watch Green Turtle lay eggs on the
beach, transplanting of eggs to hatchery and release of baby turtles to the sea.
Tourists are welcome to assist. This island is a park conservation area since
1977 and turtles have been nesting here every night throughout the year.

Day 8 Transfer to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Trek ten minutes through the
rainforest on wooden plankwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 10.00am.
Continue to Sandakan jetty for an estimated 2 hours boat journey to Sukau Rainforest
along North Borneo's longest river, the Kinabatangan, with opportunity to view
birds and wildlifes in virgin mangrove, wetlands and rainforest habitats. river
cruise in search of some of the 10 primate species including Proboscis monkeys
as they settle down on treetops along the banks of Kinabatangan River.

Day 9 : Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills. river cruise up the
Kinabatangan River to view
more birds and wildlife. Proceed to the Kelenanap ox-bow lake for a short jungle
walk (if weather permits). Experience the wilderness of Borneo.

Day 10 Proceed 27 km overland to Gomantong Caves. Trek 20 minutes through the
rainforest to the cave entrance. Your guide will brief you on the cave faunas
including bats, swiftlets and crabs among others and their contribution to maintaining
a balanced ecology and significance to the local economy. When in season, witness
the collecting of birds' nests by the local people using bamboo ladders and poles.
Proceed 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu for lunch. Drive 83km through selectively
logged forest, cocoa and soft-wood plantations before arriving at the Borneo Rainforest
Lodge beside Danum River on the edge of 438 sq. km of undisturbed lowland rainforest.
The Lodge is home to the full range of north borneo's lowland fauna, including
the rare Sumatran Rhinoceros, Elephants, Clouded Leopards, and Orang Utans. So
far some 275 species of birds have been recorded in the area. Explore nature trail
and nearby river. In the evening a slide show and if weather permits one can go
spotlighting to view some of the nocturnal animals.

semporna and then take boat ride [ about an hr] to little mabul island.

vast array of marine life and colourful corals. Walk the beach.

Day 1 : Arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport and transfer to Rasa
Ria hotel. (by the beach facing the South China Sea, with pools, International,
Indian and (the romantic “the Coast” a Western restaurant, poolside
bar and barbecue dinner service most nights; you may sing a song and dance to
the tune of the live bank at the lobby lounge). We recommend “the Coast”
to put you in the right mood after a long trip.
Day 2 : have a late breakfast; enjoy the rest of the day by the poolside. Walk
the miles of sandy beach and enjoy the in-house facilities including the Orang

Day 3 : City tour and KK Bird Sanctuary. Have lunch at a local sea food restaurant
– prawns is the house specialty fish, shell fish and crabs are almost always

Day 4 : After breakfast, you will be taken by car to the Kota Kinabalu airport
to fly to Sandakan and from the Sandakan airport proceed to the jetty for onward
journey to Selingan Island. Overnight stay on Selingan to watch the turtle laying
eggs. Find time to take a dip in the sea before sundown. [lunch and dinner included]
Day 5 : After breakfast, return by boat to the mainland to meet up with man’s
closest cousin; the Orang Utan at the world famous Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre.
After lunch, fly from Sandakan to Lahad Datu and from the Lahad datu airport you
will be transported by car to check in at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge at Danum
Valley (a virgin jungle setting). [all meals included]
Day 6 : At Danum Valley, experience guided Jungle trekking and other guided
jungle activities , see the river, bird watching and spot an animal or two. You
may have a few surprises so have your camera ready and loaded. [all meals included]
Day 7 : Return by air from Lahad Datu to Kota Kinabalu and check into Shangri
La’s Tanjung Aru Resort (STAR). The rest of the day is free. (optional –
visit the local museum or take a stroll along the beach). Star is a luxurious
sea front resort with pools, Chinese, Italian and International cuisine. Vast
grounds. Life band at the lobby bar; sing a song or request the band to play your
favourite tune. [lunch and dinner not included]
Day 8 : After breakfast at STAR take the steam train from the colonial era
and along the way have lunch on board before returning to kota kinabalu. (optional
at night, if you so wish we can arrange transport to take you for a drink at a
local pub or you might want to loosen up at a disco and feel young again and have
a light super at a local eatery before calling it a night) [lunch and dinner not

Day 9 : After breakfast at the STAR, you will taken by boat from the marine
at the STAR to check into a chalet at Manukan Island. Enjoy island hopping and
snorkeling. Enjoy BBQ lunch on the island. Walk the beach at sunset. Stay the
night at Manukan. [lunch and dinner not included]
Day 10 : Wake up before sunrise to walk the beach before others are up so you
can almost have the entire beach to yourselves. Feed the fishes while dangling
your feet at the jetty. Remember to take some food for the fishes from us. They
actually prefer French loaves. Have a late breakfast. [lunch and dinner not included]
By late afternoon, check out from the chalet and you will be taken by boat
back to the mainland. On arrival at the hotel’s marina, check into STAR again.(optional
- If you fancy a dinner outside the hotel, we will arrange for transport to take
you to a Chinese, Indian, Japanese restaurant. Or dine at a recently opened restaurant
by the beach where you will be entertained by a romantic tropical sunset. Hawker
food is also available at the same venue. [lunch and dinner not included]
Day 11 After breakfast enjoy the several pools available at STAR. After lunch,
depart STAR by car for Kota Klias to meet up with the Proboscis Monkeys and to
witness the display of lights by the “Fireflies” along the river. Return
to Star after dinner. [lunch not included]
Day 12 : have a late breakfast at STAR. Visit Monsopiad in the morning. Afternoon
free. [Lunch and dinner not included]
Day 13 : after breakfast, depart by air from the kota kinabalu airport for
Mulu resort by a river in neighboring Sarawak State. This is a world heritage
site. [lunch and dinner included]
Day 14 : after breakfast at Mulu resort, Explore the caves and trails. Overnite
in Mulu. [all meals at Mulu included]
Day 15 : after breakfast at Mulu, return by air to Kota Kinabalu and check
in at STAR or another 5 star resort near the city also by the sea. That night
we suggest that you have dinner at one of the best sea food restaurants in town.
Transportation will be arranged for you. If you wish we will help you will the
many items available from the aquarium. We will also find it rather difficult.
