One of the most adventurous destinations on the planet, come and discover why Borneo is an eternal favourite. Are you ready for it? Starting in Sabah we climb the mighty Mount Kinabalu, are guests in a small Dusun village, seek out the flora and fauna of the jungle, encounter orangutans and sea turtles, soak in hot springs and laze on the beach.

Moving onto Sarawak we head into the depths of virgin tropical rainforest by foot and boat. Take the opportunity to climb the spectacular Pinnacles and explore one of the biggest cave systems in the world. We are also guests of a traditional Iban longhouse where we spend time boating, walking and learning about this amazing culture. There is not much we don't do on this trip — it's truly an adventure to remember!

Itinerary

Day 1:
Kota Kinabalu - The capital of Sabah sprawls along the edge of the sparkling South China Sea. Take some time to explore this cultural melting pot.

Day 2:
Dusun Kampung - We gain an insight into the mythical relationship between mountain and man during our stay in a Dusun tribal village.

Day 3-4:
Mt Kinabalu - Stamina is required as we begin our climb up mighty Mt Kinabalu. From the depths of the jungle to the rugged peak, it is a long trek but time to acclimatise is built in. Keep an eye out for the carnivorous pitcher plants on the way.

Day 5-6:
Poring Hot Springs - In the dead of night we reach the peak for a stunning sunrise. After descending, we soak our aches away at Poring Hot Springs. After a night's rest we are ready to explore the lush rainforest along canopied walkways.

Day 7-8:
Kinabatangan - On the hunt for wildlife, an overnight camp in the jungle allows us the best opportunity to view species like the proboscis monkey and macaques. We follow this with a night in a traditional Malay village.

Day 9:
Sandakan - This old colonial capital offers lively harbourside fish markets, Chinese temples and war memorials.

Day 10:
Turtle Island - Gliding past fishing villages we head to a home for giant sea turtles. The frenzied newborns racing to the sea is a moving sight.

Day 11:
Sepilok Orangutan Reserve - The program that re-introduces orangutans into the wild is an extraordinary learning experience. We observe enough from the viewing platforms to keep our cameras clicking and our hearts melting.

Day 12:
Kota Kinabalu - Time to take a break at a relaxing beach-side retreat, ponder all we've done and seen and prepare to take on Sarawak.

Day 13:
Miri - This charming town in Sarawak lends itself to exploration. The old part of town and the lively markets are of particular interest, along with the new riverwalk.

Day 14-17:
Mulu National Park - Stunning rainforests are the core of Mulu National Park. Follow the headhunters' trail on our two day trek, visit immense caves and watch millions of bats take flight, like black plumes at sunset.

Day 18-20:
Iban Longhouse - Our stay in a longhouse with our Iban hosts, descendants of the headhunters, is a highlight. We may even be invited to join in traditional dancing, crafts and farming.

Day 21-22:
Kuching - Kuching has much to offer with possibly the best museum in Asia, great markets, mosques and temples.
